Joey Pipia grew up with dreams of being a professional magician. But when he first moved to Port Townsend with his family, he wasn't performing enough to make a living. He found part–time work teaching movement classes to kids, and he and his wife focused on home–schooling their two daughters. Then, one day in the middle of class, Joey's hip seized up and he fell to the ground in pain. He was diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis. Joey didn't just have to deal with the pain, depression and pressures to make a living. He had to prove to himself that he could still perform magic — by dangling 60 feet in the air in a straitjacket. Joey Pipia speaks with KUOW's Jeremy Richards.
