February is awards month for the film industry in Los Angeles. Every guild gives awards for it’s members and in all the categories of their work. The Sound Editors Guild have this year chosen to honor my husband with a life time career achievement award and so last weekend we flew to Los Angeles. In LA we picked up a budget rent a car, and drove freeway after freeway until we reached downtown Los Angeles and the South Figueroa Street exit. At number 545 we turned into The Jonathan Club and entered the land of the Republicans. It was late Saturday afternoon by the time we arrived and in the low-ceilinged forecourt we paused to view a picture board of past presidents and Republican icons who had stayed at the Jonathan Club.
