I hate living by the clock. I resent the alarm when it chimes in the pre-dawn light. I've spent so much of my life trying to befriend time, trying to fit into the larger social machinery run by the clock. As a teenager I had experiences of living by the cycling of sun, moon, and stars. I have had difficulty every since hardening myself into a sharp-edged cog that fit neatly into the world of clock time. The only escape I've discovered is to fully inhabit this moment - now and now and now. When I am able to live in presence, time expands beyond the reach of the clock.
