Libby and the Girls

From: Salt Institute for Documentary Studies
Length: 05:50

Libby St. Pierre knew since she was a young girl that she wanted only a few simple things in life: a career, which she has as a nurse in Auburn, Maine; a home, which she owns; and a family, which she lost and is still trying to rebuild.

Libby

A divorced mother of two has custody of her daughters taken away after her youngest daughter was killed from Shaken Baby Syndrom. Libby St. Pierre talks of being a mother, love for her children and remembers the evening that she and her girls found that their sister/daughter had been murdered at home.  The piece floats in and out of scenes from dialogue with the mother to interactions with her daughters during the few days a month that they have together. Leila Day shares the story.
