Susan Collins: My name is Susan Collins, I’m originally from New Jersey, a little town called Shrewsbury. And I now reside in Brooklyn, New York.
My parents told me as a young child that I was adopted. This wasn’t a big shocker, you know? From the moment I could walk and talk, they sat me down and told me I was adopted and they painted a really cool picture, I’ve got to tell you. Like, the picture was, we were at a glass window, we were the first ones in line, all these people were behind us and there were like 12 babies and everybody wanted you, and you’re like “yeah”. And they make you sound really good, they’re like, “and we picked you and everybody was jealous in line.” And so you’re like, “I’m adopted.” You had a whole attitude about being adopted.
