In this hour of The Blues & Beyond, we'll celebrate the holidays with a number of musicians, including the king of the blues, B. B. King. We'll spin a few songs from his album "A Christmas Celebration Of Hope," including the all-time, best-known, blues holiday song of all, "Merry Christmas Baby." In a somewhat different direction, we'll hear from Imani Winds, a quintet that plays wind instruments, drawing on classical, jazz and other sources to make music that is timeless, and full of joy and spirit. We'll hear selections ranging from centuries-old to decades-old, from their album "This Christmas With Imani Winds." In and around these two great artists and albums, we'll slip in blues from John Lee Hooker, a humorous look at a particular holiday problem from Sir Mack Rice, a blues harmonica interpretation of "Greensleeves" from Jay Gaunt's album "Harmonicopia," a special request for Santa from the Godfather of Soul - - and the Cartoon Christmas Trio, a group of Philadelphia area music educators who get together every December to play music of the season, and have done so for the past fifteen years. You won't hear this good stuff on the radio unless you're listening to The Blues & Beyond!
