Sarah Fasts For Ramadan

During Ramadan, 1 billion Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset, for a month. In 2010, Ramadan occurred during the summer. In Seattle, where summer days are long, the fast lasted from soon after 4 am until past 8 at night. Sarah Dillard isn't Muslim, but she chose to fast for Ramadan because she found it fascinating. A local Muslim family brings Sarah along to their mosque for prayers and break-fast. On the way through her journey, Sarah realized Ramadan is about much more than simply not eating.
