Judith_medium_small As the thermometer drops below zero, my thoughts pull inward, just as the mountain sinks into its volcanic roots. The rivers slow, with only a subterranean trickle flowing in the frosted mud. Mountains stand silently, as storm clouds snag and shatter on their flanks. The desert sheds skin after skin in the winter, under the alternating grip and release of ice and sun. If I was a monk, I would be gravitating toward the hearth, and like the desert, wearing away layer by layer, until I was nothing but a pure reflection of spirit.
