The Mesmerist is a haunting period piece based on the author’s research into the Great Exhibition, sometimes referred to as the Crystal Palace Exhibition held in London in 1851, and the work of Franz Anton Mesmer on "animal magnetism." Francois Daudet, a French mesmerist who gives demonstrations at the Exhibition, is retained by a young British widow to treat her. A scandal ensues as she dares to appear with him onstage. Is he a charlatan? Is she mad? Is his treatment effective?
The Mesmerist stars Albuqerque actors Remy Rotenier in the title role, with Brianna Stallings, Wil Moore, Jessi Badami, and Busterlee Monarco. A Camino Real Production, directed by Linda Lopez McAlister.
