Zoe Irene VanSandt - Dissociative Identity Disorder
From: Abigail Mahnke, host of Inner Views
Length: 46:47
As a young girl, Zoe Irene was sexually abused by her mother and men from her church. To cope, she developed 30+ alters (multiple personalities), who blocked out the memories and helped Zoe Irene function in daily life. It wasn't until well into adulthood that Zoe Irene realized she had developed Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), and spent 20 years in therapy to integrate the many alters. In this interview, she talks candidly about the sexual abuse that occurred, how she discovered she had DID, and what it took to integrate her many selves. This is an opportunity to get a window into a difficult-to-understand yet fascinating and complex phenomenon.
