Musician/Host Jason Wilber interviews singer/songwriter Todd Snider. Jason and Todd are old friends, and it's fun and funny to listen in as they discuss music and songwriting. This is part one of two, but it can stand alone. This piece is "EVERGREEN", i.e. the show can be run anytime as the content is not date specific.
Topics discussed include: Todd making fun of Jason's "aggressive line of questioning", the influence of Kris Kristoferson, John Prine, Billy Joe Shaver, and Jagger and Richards. Writing his own songs. how despite his "Slacker" image, he is actually a very hard worker, the annoyance of competing with a few independently wealthy musicians, drinking three glasses of wine BEFORE work, instead of when you come home.
Musical selections include: Good Fortune, Money Compliments and Publicity, Conservative Christian Straight White American Male, The Ballad of the Kingsmen, Happy to Be Here, Long Year, Easy Money.
In our Rock History 101 segment this week, Jason also talks with Indiana University "Rock and Roll Professor" Andy Hollinden about Bob Marley and the Wailers song "Burnin' and Lootin'" recorded at a radio station in San Francisco.
