Joel Styzens' career as a professional drummer ended with a diagnosis of hyperacusis (sensitivity to sound) and tinnitus (constant ringing in his ears). This devastating blow left him angry and depressed. He thought he might not ever play music again, but the need was too strong. He picked up an old dusty guitar left over from his teenage years and started to mess around with it. And then something wonderful happened.
