DESPITE THE FEARS OF SOME THAT IT WILL ERODE OUR NATIONAL CHARACTER, THOSE WHO ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO SPEAK MORE THAN ONE LANGUAGE WILL CONTEND THAT THERE IS NO EASIER WAY FOR US TO UNITE THAN TO LEARN TO SPEAK AND APPRECIATE A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE. WHETHER ON TV, ONLINE, OR IN THE NEWSPAPER, NEVER BEFORE HAS ACCESS TO FOREIGN LANGUAGE MEDIA BEEN SO READILY AVAILABLE. BUT, AS WITH MOST MEDIA, EACH FOREIGN LANGUAGE TV PROGRAM, NEWSPAPER, AND WEBSITE HAS ITS OWN VOICE AND AGENDA. YES, THE OBLIGATION TO INFORM, EDUCATATE, AND/OR ENTERTAIN REMAINS CONSTANT, BUT THE QUESTION IS HOW THEY ACHIEVE THESE OBJECTIVES, AND ARE THEY SERVING THEIR COMMUNITY OR EXPLOITING IT IN THE PROCESS?
