She played and sang from a young age on the church circuit with her mother and evolved into a fantastic guitar player and songwriter. She was controversial for taking her act to prominent night clubs such as The Cotton Club in the 30's and 40's. This show gives some history behind the music of Sister Rosetta Tharpe and includes a variety of her music.
