DENI: This is Deni Elliott and Dean Ritz for Ethically Speaking.

DEAN: Deni, I was just thinking what a good friend you are.

DENI: Ou oh... what do you need this time?

DEAN: No no no! I’m serious. You are a very good friend because you help me become a better person.

DENI: Come on!

DEAN: Aristotle would say that’s the reason we need friends. Friends help us in our quest to become the best people we are capable of being.

DENI: Well, I guess some of us need a lot of friends!

DEAN: Speak for yourself! Seriously, friends are people who know our faults or at least some of our imperfections, and they stick with us anyway.

DENI: But you’re saying something more than that. You’re saying that our friends need to appreciate the people that we’re trying to become, as well. You know, that they support our aspirations and ideals even when we fall short.
