Piece Description
July 5, 2005. On the front page of the Science section of the New York Times, an article titled "Straight, Gay or Lying? Bisexuality Revisited" reports on a study that "casts doubt on whether true bisexuality exists, at least in men." Questions, doubts and misunderstanding run rife when it comes to bisexuality. Celia La Luz set out to discover whether bi people are for real, and learned a lot more than she expected.

Review of Bi ChicCelia lines up her ducks all in a row, and patiently knocks each one down. She sets up the prejudices of the queer community against bi folks, and we get to hear the process of discovery as she sees how well the rumors hold up in real life. We follow her from the queer youth community center to high school football practice, finally ending up in a conversation with a real, live, thoughtful bisexual woman. I'll leave Celia's conclusions to be heard by her listeners, but what I like about this piece is the writing and Celia's voice. She writes clearly, and her voice sounds genuine throughout the piece. Celia takes aim not only at her own misconceptions about bisexuality, but those of her listeners as well. |

Review of Bi ChicThis piece is great! A topic you don't hear enough about from a perspective you never hear. And it's done with wit and style. It's a little long, gets repetitive, the music and some tracks are mixed too hot here and there, and it really could have used an adult perspective, but this is a terrific piece. |

Review of Bi Chic
i enjoyed this piece greatly, I thought it pointed out a real issue, there really are girls who claim bi-sexuality only to tempt the incompadant male and any radio journalist that can denounce the media and exploite the TRUTH has my vote!
