For nearly fifty years, South Africa was sharply divided by apartheid: the legal system of racial segregation that gave minority rule to the country’s white leadership. And although apartheid was formally abolished in the early 1990s, it still penetrates every aspect of South African society today.
In A Fair Country by Jon Robin Baitz, we witness the devastation that comes from trying to do “the right thing” in a place where everyone is complicit in perpetuating the policies of a racist government.
A Fair Country by Jon Robin Baitz. Starring David Dukes, Judith Ivey, and Matt McGrath.
Hour One includes a discussion with journalist and civil right pioneer Charlayne Hunter-Gault, while Hour Two features an interview with Scott Zigler, the Director of the American Repertory Theatre's Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University.
