Jason Wilber interviews 12 time Grammy winner Emmylou Harris at the famous Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. Jason spoke with Emmylou right before the Natural Resource Defence Council's "Music Saves Mountains" concert. Emmylou was one of many participants that night who played the concert in order to draw attention to the devastating practice of Mountain Top Removal (MTR) in Appalachia. In the interview Emmylou talks about her life and music, and why she became interested in banding with other musicians to save mountains in Appalachia.
Topics discussed include: The music Emmylou heard as a young girl on the radio, the career she originally planned to pursue (it wasn't music), her early efforts in Nashville, how she met Grahm Parsons, the influence of author Annie Dillard on her work, the recent NRDC concert at the Ryman, and what listeners can do to help end Mountain Top Removal.
Musical selections include: Boulder To Birmingham, Michelangelo, Hold On, All That You Have Is Your Soul, The Pearl, and Goin' Back To Harlan.
Jason also talks with Indiana University Jacobs School of Music "Rock and Roll Professor" Andy Hollinden about The O'Jays' song "For The Love Of Money".

down home pleasant interview
Jason's down to earth interview style brings out the best in Emmylou, and it is so interesting to hear about her beginnings.
Also, in the middle there is an interview with a professor which was very interesting since I like to know how the music is made.
