Timing and Cues

The Moth Radio Hour Fundraising Edition Hour 3
Total time: 36:00
Pitch time: 18:00 with 1:00 for legal ID and 5:00 news hole

5:00 News hole

3:00 Pitch break:

Coming up, a special edition of the The Moth Radio Hour from PRX. True stories told live on stage with no scripts.

The Moth started with a group of friends sitting on the porch at night telling stories from their lives. People have been sharing stories in much the same way for centuries. We connect with each other by sharing a bit of our lives, our sorrows and laughter.

You connect with (station) by listening, and by making a financial contribution. Your pledge helps pay for programs like The Moth Radio Hour, This American Life and Prairie Home Companion – programs full of stories that connect us to each other.

Make your contribution now and enjoy the rest of the hour.

Coming up during this hour are three stories: what a guy will do to impress a young sky diving instructor; what a guy will do for his dying wife; and what happens when you’re in a relationship with a woman who has very strong convictions.

6:08 Hr 3 / Segment 1 = Moth 203 A Andy Kristy

IQ: From PRX, this is The Moth Radio Hour. I’m Jennifer Hixson….
OQ: This hour is produced by Atlantic Public Media and presented by the Public Radio Exchange. PRX.org

5:00 Pitch Break

Andy Kristy’s story was a great example of the unexpected – the young instructor’s words as he jumped from the plane were totally unexpected – and changed the entire experience for him.

You hear the unexpected every day on (station): Whether it’s the secrets of your favorite musician revealed on Fresh Air; an unexpected response during an interview on Morning Edition; or a joke that catches you totally off guard on Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me – that’s what makes public radio different from other mediums. It’s totally unpredictable. We can do that because we’re independent. And we’re independent thanks to listener support.

Coming up, the story of two people in love – till the very end. Make your contribution now so you don’t miss a word.

12:18 Hr 3 / Segment 2 = Moth 204 B Mike Destifano (de stif AH no)

IQ: (theme music) From PRX, this is The Moth Radio Hour. I’m Sarah Austin Jenness (jen-NESS)….
OQ: The Moth Radio Hour is produced by Atlantic Public Media and presented by the Public Radio Exchange. PRX. Org.”

5:00 Pitch Break

Mike Destifano (de stif AH no) is an example of the incredible variety of voices you hear on public radio. People from all walks of life telling stories that make you cry or laugh or see things in a new light.

The powerful hold these stories have on us is in their depth. Only on public radio will you hear the time devoted to stories like this. And it’s all made possible by listener support.

Your pledge to (station) is your connection to stories that matter. Thanks for your continued support of The Moth Radio Hour on (station).

The last story this hour is from a young Mormon woman who tries to find love while staying true to her convictions.

17:24 Hr 3 / Segment 3 = Moth 204 B Elna (EL-nah) Baker
IQ: (crowd noise) From PRX, this is The Moth Radio Hour. I’m Leah Thau (taow)…
OQ: ..and everything else, go to our website, The Moth dot org.”

5:00 Pitch Break

Elna’s story was a story of romance – but also of suspense, because we didn’t really know how it was going to turn out till the very end.

It’s the kind of story that prevents you from turning off the radio until the very end – a classic ‘driveway moment’.

During this hour, we’ve learned a lot about human nature and what makes people do the things they do.

Every day on (station), you learn what makes people tick through great public radio programs like Fresh Air, Morning Edition and even Car Talk. Through interviews, storytelling and humor we all learn more about ourselves and understand others a little better.

That’s just one of the benefits of public radio in your life. During (Station) membership drive, we’re asking you to attach a value to that and make a contribution.
