This is a special edition of The Moth Radio Hour, a new public radio program that brings storytelling to a whole new level. You’ll hear people tell very personal stories live on stage with no scripts.
The Moth Radio Hour grew from friends telling stories on the porch at night while the moths clustered around the light. Public radio brings us together in much the same way. Thousands of (station) listeners are tuned in right now listening to these stories. And (station)’s ability to bring you these great stories depends on your financial support.
Make your pledge now before we begin The Moth, so you can enjoy the hour knowing you’ve helped make it possible.
During this hour of The Moth, you’ll hear a story from a Nobel Laureate, a daughter remembering the lessons she learned from her immigrant father, and a man in his 40s looking for the meaning of life.
11:28 Hr 2 / Segment A = Moth 202 A Paul Nurse
IQ : (Music) : From PRX, this is The Moth Radio Hour. I’m Catherine Burns, the Artistic Director…..
OQ: This hour is produced by Atlantic Public Media and presented by the Public Radio Exchange. PRX. Org
4:30 Pitch Break
As Catherine said at the beginning of the program, the last place most scientists want to be is in front of an audience talking about themselves. But through Paul Nurse’s story, we’ve learned a little more about human nature – and the impact that big secrets can have on our lives.
You learn about what makes people tick every day on (Station) through great public radio programs like Fresh Air, Morning Edition and This American Life. Through interviews, storytelling and humor we all learn more about ourselves and understand others a little better.
That’s just one of the benefits of public radio in your life. During (Station) membership drive, we’re asking you to attach a value to that and make a contribution.
Coming up, a daughter tells the story of growing up as a poor immigrant family, and the lessons she learned from her father and her community.
12:12 Hr 2 Segment B = Moth 202 B Ellie Lee
IQ: I’m Catherine Burns and this is The Moth Radio Hour. Our next story is from Ellie Lee….”
OQ: The Moth Radio Hour is produced by Atlantic Public Media and presented by the Public Radio Exchange. PRX. Org
4:30 Pitch Break
Ellie Lee’s story about what her neighbors did when her dad’s store burned is such a great example of the strong bonds that exist within a community.
The community of (station) listeners is a bit like a close-knit neighborhood. Your continued financial support over the years has made it possible for (station) to not just survive – but thrive, and to bring you new public radio programs like The Moth Radio Hour.
Make your contribution now before the next story and help make (station’s) membership drive a success.
Coming up, a story of an arranged marriage and unrequited love.”
14:42 Hr 2 Segment 3 = Moth 203 E Brian Finkelstein (fink-el-steen) / Jennifer Hixson close.
IQ: (Jennifer): “…. Welcome back. I’m Jennifer Hixson and you’re listing to The Moth Radio Hour…..”
Deleted from the closing, as in Hour 1, is the pitch for Moth demos online and phone.
OQ: (Jennifer): “…Brian was nominated for an Emmy for his work on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.”(music fades) (Theme Music in) .” (Jay’s full closing): “….. go to our website, The Moth dot org.”
4:00 Pitch Break
During this special edition of The Moth Radio Hour, you’ve heard three stories about relationships: between father and daughter, a son and his parents, and a man in love with a woman he can’t have.
Maybe you can identify with some of the stories you’ve heard. You’ve had similar experiences or had the same emotions. That’s why relationships always make for compelling stories that connect us with each other.
That’s one of the reasons you listen to (station) every day. To hear stories from around the world and right next door that make you stop, listen, learn and think.
For that reason, (station) is counting on you to make a financial contribution. Your pledge keeps (station) strong, so you can continue to hear great programs like The Moth Radio Hour.
