LAURA: WELCOME TO SEX.REALLY. I’M LAURA SESSIONS STEPP.

FEW INVENTIONS HAVE BEEN THE SUBJECT OF SO MUCH DERISION, PRAISE AND LAUGHTER AS THE LOWLY CONDOM. SO SEX.REALLY, DECIDED TO TAKE A FIELD TRIP TO THE MUSEUM OF SEX IN NEW YORK CITY AND VISIT AN EXHIBIT THERE CALLED: “RUBBERS: THE LIFE, HISTORY AND STRUGGLE OF THE CONDOM.”

Laura: Here I am in lower Manhattan on Fifth Avenue. The museum’s been around since 2002. Floor to ceiling, two large sculptures of…penises? You look at them quickly and you think—oh, that’s just a breadbasket! And then you realize it’s not bread that’s in there. I think it’s time to go in!

So we walk right into the gift shop. It looks actually like something you might see at the National Geographic, until you start looking closely at horses copulating on mugs, and wonderful pillows, which you can see from the street. One of them says: “Good Head.”
