- SRP: IDP representation in Sudan
- From
- Sudan Radio Project
According to the Internal Displacement Monitoring Center’s May 2009 report, Sudan’s 4.9 million internally displaced people make up the largest internally displaced population in the world. Sudanese Internally Displaced Persons, or IDPs, traditionally have not had access to official means of making their voices heard. For example, there were few instances of IDP representation in the negotiations leading up to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement that ended the second Sudanese Civil War in 2005. In light of the ongoing Doha talks and Sudan’s recent national elections, we pose the question: have things changed? Mina Itabashi has more.
