Host Lisa Simeone welcomes you to this week's broadcast of the 2010 chamber music concerts from the Spoleto Festival USA To commemorate his final yearas Artistic Director of the Chamber Music Series, Charels Wadsworth has chosen a series of audience favorites he's programmed over the years, which you'll hear him introduce from the stage of newly-renovated Memminger [MEHM-mihn-jehr] Auditorium in the heart of historic Charleston, South Carolina.
On this chamber music concert from Spoleto Festival USA, a catchy work by the appealing young American composer Kenji [KEN-jee] Bunch -“The Last Night in the Flamenco House,” and a piece in honor of composer Felix Mendelssohn's Bicentennial, we’ll hear one of his great chamber works, his Piano Trio in D minor; along with a beautiful, yet seldom heard, vocal work by Franz Schubert: The haunting “Shepherd on the Rock” for soprano, clarinet, and piano.
