Pulling out an encyclopedia every morning and reading at random is similar to going to a liberal arts college. Some of the things you read in the encyclopedia will interest you and some things will not. Some of the courses you take at college will interest you and some will not. Reading the encyclopedia at random and going to a college where you have to take courses that you don’t want to take are good for you. When I was 15 I wanted to have a junkyard and play in a band at night. How could I have known that the most interesting and valuable course I would take in 9 years of college would be psycholinguistics in which I learned how to train a rat in a box? You and I are different, so you might get excited trying to figure out how many angels can dance, sit or stand on the point of a pin.
