Piece Description

Vampire Weekend's sophomore album, Contra, recently hit number one on Billboard, and it's hard hard to see why. The LP is basically pure pop sugar, with a load of Caribbean and African influences. Paul Simon's fingerprints show up on the album a few times, too. If you want something painfully deep and challenging, this probably won't be the album for you; but who says making music that's fun is necessarily less artistically sound?

We've also got an interview with Fresno rapper Fashawn, and a deep listen into the new Owen Pallett--formerly Final Fantasy--album, Heartland.
