On Part One of SOUL TIME, we listen to two versions of Never Can Say Goodbye written by Clifton Davis. They are two completely different versions, not to be compared with the Isaac Hayes version. We also will listen to three former guests that have been on THE FUNK SHOW. The first one is from The Friends of Distinction who sang Check It Out, latter covered by Tavares. Harry Elston of The Friends of Distinction was our guest and talked about his group’s history. The second former guest was Sarah Dash of Labelle who performed Get You Somebody New. One of their funkier pieces. The title track from the original motion picture soundtrack Three The Hard Way, was perform by The Impressions. The leader of The Impressions Fred Cash came on the show in the past and talked about his group’s history. Other nice grooves are covered by Etta James, Quincy Jones, Marvin Gaye, Laura Lee and others.
