Today’s teenagers are often credited, rightly or not, as being more media savvy, fickle, and critical of tacky advertising than any previous generation. They also carry around a lot more cash. These qualities result in an ever-evolving dance between marketers and teens that gets a lot of attention from adults. But 16 year old Youth Voices reporter Phenola Lawrence thought she should do her own digging to find out who really has the upper hand.

Review of Teen Marketing This is a brutally truthful piece about teen marketing. I know it is sad that companies use teens as walking billboards, but the seagull I wear on my chest, is a seagull that I like. I pay for my clothes with my own money and I don't care who else wears them.

Review of Teen MarketingThis piece on teen marketing is both insightful and informative. So many teens are oblivious to the influence of the marketing world, and Phenola Lawrence is determined to educate them. Great sound clips and interviews, however, considering the target audience, the script was spoken very slowly. Overall, this piece challenges marketing monsters through a creative form journalism. |
