Piece Description
John has just been diagnosed with oral herpes, the cold sore-causing virus. In this story he asks questions about what that means for his love life, and ends up getting some answers that he never expected
Intro and Outro
INTRO:IT’S ESTIMATED THAT FIFTY TO EIGHTY PERCENT OF AMERICAN ADULTS CARRY ORAL HERPES, THE COLD SORE CAUSING VIRUS. MANY PEOPLE WITH ORAL HERPES NEVER HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS. FOR THOSE WHO DO, OUTBREAKS MAY ONLY BE A LITTLE PAINFUL AND EMBARASSING. AND YET, THERE IS A LOT OF STIGMA AROUND THE WORD “HERPES.”
TWO MONTHS AGO, A TWENTY THREE YEAR OLD ART STUDENT, WHO ASKED TO GO BY “JOHN,” WAS TOLD HE HAD ORAL HERPES. INDEPENDENT PRODUCER, LAURA HERBERG, FOLLOWS JOHN IN THE MONTHS AFTER HIS DIAGNOSIS, AS HE STRUGGLES TO COPE WITH, AND BEGINS TO QUESTION, HIS DISEASE.

Does he have herpes or not?
I can't understand if Laura says he does or doesn't have herpes.
