When guitarist Manuel Barrueco (bar-WAY-ko) teamed up with conductor and tenor Placido Domingo to record the famous guitar concertos by Rodrigo, along with some Rodrigo miniatures, the actual recording process became secondary – and that’s why he considers the recording a musical success.

“The thing that was very nice for me is, I...I felt I was understanding everything that he was doing.  And it’s kind of like you’re having a conversation with somebody and you say, ‘yes, yes, yes, I agree’ and this and ‘Yes!,’ and you’re agreeing with each other, and it just sort of rolls, you know?  It just flowed.  It seemed very spontaneous and very natural.  So when you can believe what you’re doing and the other person likes it, you know, it’s really so nice.  It’s a nice conversation.”
