In this hour of The Blues & Beyond, lots of modern acoustic music, including a thoroughly contemporary traditional blues artist, Samuel James. Samuel James often evokes memories of old blues greats like Son House, but his songs are very much present-day offerings, and at times a bit challenging for the casual listener. We'll open up his recent album "For Rosa Maeve & Noreen" in the first part of this show. We'll also check out a few tracks from "11:11," the recent release by the acoustic guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela. And, we'll hear acoustic guitar music from Larry Coryell, Joe Beck, and John Scofield from 1979 from Coryell's outstanding album "Tributaries," and a new, "less acoustic," track from Coryell's son Murali Coryell with guest Joe Louis Walker. Also, music from extraordinary acoustic guitarists Badi Assad and the late Michael Hedges.
