That's the sound of an electric, city bus traveling through downtown Seattle. It's a reminder that electric transportation isn't new -- a timely reminder, because I'm on my way to test drive a prototype of the Nissan all-electric car, the Leaf.
Dean Romaine orients me to the car's dashboard and controls.

This prototype is the Leaf powertrain, batteries and regenerative braking system under the body of a Nissan Tida.
"Everything you see in the Leaf - this car is just for the driving experience" " all going to feel /ride /handling"
So far it's a lot like driving a Toyota Prius hybrid... until the straightaway, where Dean persuades me to floor it.
