Piece Description
It's new blues from Big Bill Morganfield. He's one of the sons of Muddy Waters, and it has now been ten years since his debut album "Rising Son." With the new album Born Lover, it is safe to say that the son has risen to full mid-day height. We'll hear a number of songs from the album, plus one from his late and great father, newly available in 2009.
In addition, we have some timeless jazz classics from two of the best, Dave Brubeck and John Coltrane.
We'll also open up the album "Song Of Songs" from Israeli singer Inbar Bakal, who puts ancient songs to modern arrangements, singing in Hebrew, Yemenite Hebrew, and English. And while we're at it, we'll play one of the best-known and most well-recognized traditional Hebrew dance songs, re-cast with hip hop.
Plus: jazz flute from Nicole Mitchell from her new album "Renegades."
