Portland State University is in the heart of downtown Portland, Oregon. It
flanks the city's gracious park blocks, is the terminus for the city's
street car line, and is taking a leading role in Portland's sustainability
and economic development success. Today, we will talk to PSU President Wim
Wiewel on his partnership with Mayor Sam Adams and the university's role as
an anchor institution.
And we'll talk with Marilyn Yank from the Little Sparrow Farm in New
Orleans. Of the many exciting stories of reconstruction coming out of
post-Katrina new orleans is the surge in urban farming. We'll ask Marilyn
about the difference between gardening and urban agriculture and find out
how growing your own food gives you a better relationship to what you eat.
