INTRO: The rising anti-Japanese sentiment in China is continuing to rattle Japan. The country’s benchmark stock index today (Monday) plunged nearly four percent, closing at a low point for the year, due in part to concerns how Japanese companies in China will be affected by the protests there.
Japan’s Foreign Minister Nobutaka Machimura continued talks with Chinese officials today, although he has failed to get a requested apology for recent damage to Japanese diplomatic and commercial property by Chinese demonstrators. More from Steve Herman in Tokyo.
