Piece Description
On this show we'll enjoy a Jamaican journey. The album "B Is For Bob" an collection of Bob Marley songs mostly remixed and recast by his son Ziggy Marley will be our starting point. Bob Marley's music may be timeless, but son Ziggy wants to be extra sure that young people relate to it today -- thus he did the "B Is For Bob album," and also a recent children's album "Family Time" that we will also visit on this show. We'll play a famous song about Jamaica, sung by the late great rocksteady singer Desmond Dekker, and we'll hear from one of Bob Marley's teachers, the veteran Jamaican jazz guitarist Ernest Ranglin, including his own search for African roots on an album called "In Search Of The Lost Riddim." And we have a song from Judy Mowatt too -- she was a member of the I3's who sang backup for Bob Marley, and she went on to make a number of fine reggae albums in the 1980s.
