200,000 children are born each year with the deformity of clubfoot. Dr. Ignacio Ponseti's non-surgical cure has treated thousands and allowed them to walk and even run. Read the full description.

Worldcanvass_prx2_small Spanish-born doctor of orthopaedics, Ignacio Ponseti, had the hands and the tender sensibility of a watchmaker.  He used those hands to straighten the twisted feet of children born with clubfoot.  His Ponseti Method, a non-surgical casting method of correcting clubfoot, has turned thousands of children with a painful and stigmatizing deformity into kids with healthy, normal feet that can run, jump and play sports.  Friends and colleagues of Ignacio Ponseti describe his work and his share their reflections upon his death at the age of 95.

This interview is part of the "WorldCanvass" program on human rights recorded on November 13, 2009 in the Senate Chamber of the Old Capitol in Iowa City, Iowa (the full "WorldCanvass" program is available on PRX).  Program host is Joan Kjaer.  Guests are Dr. Joseph Buckwalter, Paul Etre and John Buchanan.
