- OUR CASTLE IN SPAIN
- From
- Dick Meister
My wife and I once found an actual castle in Spain and celebrated Thanksgiving there with a delicious feast. We slept there. too. amid luxurious, impeccably maintained medieval furnishings. The beautiful castle looked, inside and out, very much as it must have during the reign of Spanish King Enrique II in the 14th century.

It was … and still is … operated by the Spanish Tourist Authority as one of a string of tourist lodgings known as paradors .
The castle’s ivy-covered walls … still in seemingly perfect condition … formed part of the defensive battlements of Ciudad Rodrigo …. A small, quiet village now, but in Enrique’s time a major walled city fit for a king.
