The Christmas DrumThe Christmas Drum - This is a very unique story. The story is told my Smith, the mercenary, who has come to the Smoke House this year. Smith was not expect to come during this week, however he gives a story unique to the career warrior. The setting is an old English style home. The owner of the house has heard the drum sounds and the next he gets a call to go to San Diego to muster his troops for battle. His wife is left with the grandchildren, a boy and a girl. Their son has die in Vietnam. The time is Christmas Eve. The grandmother gathers the children to tell them story she tells every Christmas Eve of the ‘gift’ and the ‘destiny’ of those who have been given the drum. She first tells of when the drum was first given what happens to the young man who was given the drum. She questions, her role has she tells the children of the drums history and their destiny.
