The Christmas Cat -  The ‘kernel’ for this story was given to me by a dear old friend.   He tells me that this did happen but he does tell those ‘tall’ tales of his youth.  I am amazed at the reaction at this story and even that a person can remember a story like this for seven months.  What really floor me was that after this long period of time, the person could not stop laughing for over ten minutes before he could tell me, it was this story that had made him laugh so much.   I do shake my head at such power this sensuous story.

A mother gives birth to seven kittens on Christmas Eve.   All but one dies, one by one but Helen brings in the last surviving kitten to be nurtured into a young male cat.  However, Helen has names the kitten - Christy - a female name.   Christy roams the farm until one day when he caught is trap.  One of his legs has to be cut off by the farmer - for the rest of his life Christy stays at arms length of this man.  One of the boys carves a peg leg and fits this leg for Christy to wear.   One night, when one of the boys is at home studying with the rest of the family, he hears a noise in the kitchen.  He secures the shotgun off the mantle and grabs a lantern and goes into the kitchen to get the surprise of his life.  After this incident and many more, Christy the Christmas Cat reputation is developed into a legend

This story is being told by the owner who has heard it from the owner of the grocery store.   Old man Lucas, the alcoholic, has given the story has his gift to the people, he knows in town and to his special friend, Walt was told this story first by Lucas.  .
