Michael_tilson_thomas_small "Keeping Score" is the PBS classical music program that has redefined music appreciation and music education as we know it.

Suitable for insertion during Morning Edition (Newscast V and C Section), your local classical shift or local (arts) magazine program. Excellent cross promotion for Joint Licensees.

"Keeping Score" returned October 2009 with three programs.  Conductor Michael Tilson Thomas is the voice and visionary behind these musical travelogues that take us into the lives and times of composers and their pivotal pieces of music.  In the second season, Michael Tilson Thomas introduces the "Symphonie fantastique" by Berlioz, the "Holidays Symphony" by Ives and the "Symphony No. 5" by Shostakovich.

This specific feature is a preview of the second season of "Keeping Score" (Berlioz, Ives and Shostakovich).

You can use each or all of the Keeping Score features to accompany or promote the broadcast of this classical music series on your local PBS station.  It's ideal cross promotion for your "sister" station if you are a joint licensee.

In each feature, Michael Tilson Thomas talks with David Srebnik about the composers and the innovative, yet highly personal roads each took to express their musical ideas.

"The pieces are like worlds in themselves and are a reflection of many experiences of the composers who wrote them.  And these experiences are things which all of us as living, breathing people have very much in common.  So I think it brings the music a lot closer to the audience to look into where all these ideas are coming from."
(Michael Tilson Thomas)
