Latin Jazz as we know it today came out of Afro-Cuban Jazz. MARIO BAUZA began his career with CHICK WEBB in 1933. He was responsible for bringing in DIZZIE GILLESPIE and Afro-Cuban Jazz was born. We will listen to traditional Afro Cuban rhythms in the music of MONGO SANTAMARIA, SABU MARTINEZ, and more modern rhythms from OMAR SOSA. The great Afro-Cuban drum masters are here on this show with MONGO SANTAMARIA, CANDIDO CAMERO, CARLOS POTATO VALDEZ and SABU MARTINEZ.
