In this segment of JAZZ TIME we will listen to the drums of Art Blakey, as he expresses himself in the Jazz standard "Moanin". A special treat with Ray Charles live at the Newport Jazz Festival, showing that he was not only a master of Soul and song but classic Jazz as well. Stanley Turrentine comes to JAZZ TIME with his signature piece “Sugar” from 1971 and a recent live date with Kurt Elling and John Hendricks from Lambert Hendricks & Ross. Today, we have Bossa Nova from Stan Getz, Astrud Gilberto and João Gilberto. Their classic “The Girl From Ipanema”! Another hi-light is another live date from the Newport Jazz Festival from Rahsaan Roland Kirk as he performs “Three For The Festival”.
