When something emotionally or physically difficult happens to an actor, the first response is always to "use it" – that is, to use the physical pain or mental anguish to improve the performance.
That's what Stacy Keach has done in recreating the role of King Lear this summer in Washington, D.C. Just before getting ready to do the show, which he had performed to great acclaim in Chicago three years ago, Keach had a mild stroke. He's come back stronger than before, but not without some concern over whether he could play the raging and mercurial king.
Then… Journalist Jancee Dunn has wrote about many topics throughout her career. From her celebrity interviews for the Rolling Stones to her television segments on MTV2. It wasn’t until her mother announced at Thanksgiving dinner “I’m getting a tattoo” that Dunn decided to tackle a topic close to her heart…family. In her hilarious new book: Why is My Mother Getting a Tattoo? And Other Questions I Wish I Never Had to Ask – she address all the random questions and “oh my, what’s next” thoughts our families create.
