On this edition of "A Musician's Life" Tracey Tanenbaum speaks with Kevin Hearn. The Canadian Multi-instrumentalist and songwriter makes crowd-pleasing music with the Barenaked Ladies. But as a solo artist he creates atmospheric and introspective fare. In the past he's written about his battle with Leukemia. Kevin_hearn_small In the mid-1990's The Barenaked Ladies hired Kevin Hearn as a temporary keyboard player.  But his relationship with the Canadian pop group grew, and he has become an integral part of the group-lending his talents as a songwriter as well as multi-instrumentalist.  Kevin's success with the Barenaked Ladies enabled him to pursue his own brand of music with his side band Thinbuckle.   A decade ago, Kevin Hearn received a diagnosis of leukemia.  He has been in remission thanks to multiple blood transfusions from his brother.  Kevin Hearn turned 40 years old this year. 

On his new album "Havana Winter" Kevin Hearn reflects on the natural world.  The work features contributions from Kevin's hero Lou Reed as well as iconic performance artist Laurie Anderson.
