After years of being a community activist in Durham, North Carolina, Meredith Emmett became president of the Watts Hospital-Hillandale Neighborhood Association. She has dubbed herself a "neighborhood activist," and in this audio documentary, she defines what that term means for her and for her community. Serving as my final project for the Hearing is Believing I: Audio Institute for The Center of Documentary Studies at Duke University, this piece was produced for the The Watts Hospital-Hillandale Centennial Project in July 2009.
