Piece Description
It all started out with Chubby Checker and "the twist." Chubby Checker was one of the first African American males with a number one record in the 1950's. The twist was a song about a popular dance that practically took over the world. To this very day, if the twist came on in a retirement center, all of the retirees would get out of their seats and do the twist.
Now there's a new dance, better yet, a new movement. Kids from all over Los Angeles are obsessed with bright colored skinny jeans, checkered Vans, and doing a dance they call "Jerkin."
