"Katrina's Children" is a multi-faceted film portrait of nineteen children from different neighborhoods in New Orleans. Told entirely from the children's point of view, the film explores the impact of Hurricane Katrina on their lives. It's a celebration of children's extraordinary resilience and a tribute to New Orlean's unique and indomitable spirit.
Director Laura Belsey was herself born in New Orleans. After the storm hit, she returned to film a documentary about the children of her old home town. In this story Laura Belsey talks about her own relationship with New Orleans, about the film and the importance of recording the history of what happened during and after the storm.
