The Blues File offers reviews of albums, previews of blues events, artist profiles, glimpses into blues history, and observations of current blues trends. Blues File host Jonny Meister has been the host of The Blues Show on WXPN-FM in Philadelphia for twenty-eight years. The Blues Show covers the blues from its earliest days to its latest offerings, with reference to the history of the form and its place in the world of music. Meister has taught courses on blues at the University of Pennsylvania, written liner notes for numerous blues albums, and consulted on the Wim Wenders film "The Soul Of A Man." The Blues Show was chosen in 1996 by Philadelphia Magazine as the best local radio show in Philadelphia, and Meister received a "Keeping The Blues Alive" award from The Blues Foundation in Memphis in 2000 for work in public radio.
