From: Radio Netherlands Worldwide
Series: European Jazz Stage 2009
Length: 58:36
This year's European Jazz Stage series sees us bringing you a new take on some classic recordings. We delve into the Radio Netherlands Worldwide archives and transport you back 35 years to 1974 and that year's acclaimed Jazz Festival in the Dutch town of Laren. Among the highlights are performances from pianist Bill Evans and tenor man Stan Getz. Pianist Roland Hanna also features. He brought his trio to the festival and played in two different line-ups. First with Frank Wess on sax and flute, then with the Dutch Sax Group with, among others, Ferdinand Povel and Piet Noordijk.
