Inside Islam - Women and Shari'a (Full Program)
From: Wisconsin Public Radio
Series: Here on Earth: Radio Without Borders
Length: 52:35
Produced by Wisconsin Public Radio and hosted by Jean Feraca, “Inside Islam" is a special radio series from the producers of “Here on Earth – Radio Without Borders.” A collaborative effort, the program works side by side with the Inside Islam Blog, always up-to-date with the latest discussions involving Islamic news, beliefs, debates and culture. You can find both the show and the blog at www.insideislam.wisc.edu.
The Inside Islam initiative seeks to challenge misconceptions and stereotypical perceptions about Muslims worldwide through the University of Wisconsin’s nine international studies centers, Wisconsin Public Radio and you, the public.
In this edition of Inside Islam: Who speaks for Muslim women? You’ve probably heard some horrifying stories about the fate of Muslim girls - stonings, rapes and murders. This hour, Jean Feraca and her guests untangle what part of this stemmed from Shari’a law and what part evolved from localized, tribal customs.
“Here on Earth” is Wisconsin Public Radio’s global talk program. It airs live, Monday through Friday, from 4 to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
